CivilWarNews The Appomattox Court House Battle     By:Danny Le The Appomattox Battle was the last stand for General Lee. Around 16780 Casualties from both sides and 27,805 Confederate troops captured and paroled. It happen when the Union took Richmond, but when the Union got there, the Confederate already burn down the whole town. The Confederate had to surrender and they also had to surrender 25,000 rations, any weapons or flags,and take an oath to not fight anymore.   When  Lee  arrived at  Appomattox , he found that his path was blocked. He  had  no choice but to request a meeting with  Grant . He knew that his left over troops had no chance in being able to take down Grant's troops. Lee knew that this was his last stand ,so he wore his best clothing.

My Dearest Elizabeth, It's been four days since the war had reached upon the land, to say I yearn for your presence is an understatement. As time passes by, I come face to face with the reality that our Union is crumbling apart. The predicament and quandary i'm facing distraught's me and keeps me up at night with turbulent thoughts . The decision our government took in order to deal with the south's way of life is utterly ridiculous. I was taken away from our family because society couldn't prevent the south from believing the government wanted to abolish slavery. I realize my reasoning for preventing mayhem among the nation is incomprehensible, dehumanization and human confinement is morally wrong, people would be blind not try and find a way to prevent it from spreading, but the whole union shouldn't be the one to suffer for the mistakes of a portion of society.
